An Explanation...

This post is essentially an apology for my lengthy absence. Many things have been going on the last several months, including school (a.k.a. indentured servitude), music lessons, extracurriculars, work, travel, family, and many other excuses...which all of you don't deserve. All I ask is that you bear with me during this most hectic time, and please don't expect posts every day or even every other day. Right now, I am aiming for one to two posts per week, and don't be surprised if even that doesn't happen.

I sincerely appreciate your visits, however, and I do hope that you enjoy perusing the site. Thanks for being so understanding about my schedule.

XO ~ A.

Fashion ABC's: A is for Acne

Here on Very Fashionable Things, we've decided to start a new feature titled "Fashion ABC's." Every other day or so, we'll be posting a new letter and some aspect of fashion that begins with that letter. Since today is day one of our new experiment, the letter will be A. And our fashionable feature? Acne. No, not that acne. The other one.

This year's Acne Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection was...well, interesting. The most eye-catching thing was not the clothes, but perhaps the makeup. Each model had a design on her forehead that resembled something out of Star Wars. Oh, the clothes, you're asking about. They were pretty nice. To see for yourself, look below. And please, just LOOK at that first pair of pants.

JPG: Fashion Hit or Miss?

During Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall 2010 Couture show, we saw dramaticism that would have given the late Alexander McQueen (R.I.P.) a run for his money. Drapings, facial coverings, sky-high hair, and even musical instruments. Yes, musical instruments. And conductor's batons. JPG showed us everything from long, elaborate coats and cloaks to short minis with fur. This was a collection that truly covered every single facet of fashion. The lovely Dita von Teese even modeled for his show. Even though his pieces were impeccable in a tailoring and architectural sense, some felt that he was overly flamboyant and should nix his new "McQueen-esque" perspective. What do think about his Fall 2010 Couture collection? Was this a hit or a miss?

Spotlight on Ruffles

Nothing says "ooh-la-la" quite like a chic ruffled shoe. Whether it be a pump, t-strap, wedge, or flat, a ruffle texture adds spice and a new dimension to any shoe. Below I've posted a few splurges as well as some sensible options that I've found swoon-worthy.
